We do not anticipate any technical difficulties.Deadlines: The system hasand staff have been operating fairly smoothly through the weekend.week. But we should try to work ahead as much as possible so we are don’t push deadline to solve technology problems or address our own knowledge gaps.
Wire sort: We hope to refine APT wire sorts with dual goals:
(1) Create more complete queues that combine coverage of topics such as politics, travel etc. from AP, NYT and MCT in one place.
(2) Develop a search that allows a single editor to search multiple queues in any configuration needed using one global search window. We are thinking mainly of easing the burden of late wire monitoring, but we want to create a search that shows the latest updates to any set of wire queues designated by the user.
Searches are currently limited to a global search or a single queue. As a first step toward creating better wire sorts, the wire queue names were renamed to make searches more relevant. If you left a wire queue open when you last closed Falcon -- or had searches based on the old queue names -- you'll getempty queuewindows.
Issue creation: Beth Moede in layout will handle issue creation for WSJ, all seven days.
Carboning: On the WSJ side, the script for sending stories to wire will have options to send to AP & Lee, AP only, or Lee only. AP and Lee will be the default.
Lee carboning has been tested. Lee wire stories are sorting into the State Wire queue at this time, not the LEE queue, which is empty for now.
Page association: All page association is done by the newsroom. Perform page association as your first step upon opening a page.
Folios: Page folios will be placed on pages with ads by Beth Moede in layout.
